Fight 4 Parkinson’s is a local fundraiser held to pay tribute and raise funds for individuals served by the Parkinsons Support Group of the Upstate.
Why do we need to Fundraise? To help more People With Parkinson’s (PWP’s) and their Care Partners (CP’s) than PSGOTU does now. Did you know that it is estimated that there are at least 5,000 people in the Upstate living with Parkinson’s Disease? If we add CP’s, family, friends and work colleagues, the total number people impacted by this disease can expand as much as 50,000. To date, our support group has been reaching at best 300 people. We must do more and we need your help to do so. Help us build up peer group attendance as well as attendance at speaker meetings.
How do we reach people that need our help? A diagnosis of Parkinson’s often leads to a feeling of isolation and helplessness. To reach these individuals requires extensive advertising and effort to recruit them. That is why PSGOTU has hired an Executive Director to be in the community to reach out to people that need our support but don’t know about us yet. To offer these isolated PWP’s and CP’s some HOPE means we have to significantly grow PSGOTU and we need resources to do so.
How can you help? It’s easy to make a difference! We are asking you to start a team to honor or remember a person with Parkinson’s. Teams can consist, of children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors, coworkers etc. (They don’t have to live nearby to be on your team and to fundraise).
How do you get started? By clicking on REGISTER. Don’t have a computer and/or don’t want to be bothered? Give Heather a call at 864-905-2574 .We need you and your team to reach out to people that you know and ask them to donate towards your team to benefit the PSGOTU.
On April 13th we will join together to celebrate what we have raised to Fight 4 Parkinson’s and the HOPE that we are providing to others living in the upstate.
April 13th is a family oriented carnival themed event. Activities Include: Kids fun run/bounce house/ carnival games/face painting/ banner contest/ and ceremonial remembrance.
