While most people in the U.S. are vaccinated against measles as children, in much of the world, measles remains a leading cause of death in children. The American Red Cross is helping to change those odds. As a founding member of the Measles & Rubella Initiative, we have vaccinated more than 1.1 billion children and helped reduced measles deaths by a staggering 71 percent worldwide.
But there is still a long way to go! This disease kills 430 children around the world daily, a disease that is entirely preventable with a vaccine that costs only $1.
With support from the Alice Kleberg Reynolds Foundation, the American Red Cross of Central Texas aims to convene the Central Texas community around this important cause and raise enough money to save 50,000 lives by midnight on February 13, 2013—the night of 50,000 lives.
With $1 you can help vaccinate one child. Together, we can save 50,000 lives.
