BENEFITING: American Red Cross
While most people in the U.S. are vaccinated against measles as children, in much of the world, measles remains a leading cause of death in children. The American Red Cross is helping to change those odds. As a founding member of the Measles & Rubella Initiative, we have vaccinated more than 1.1 billion children and helped reduced measles death in children by a staggering 78 percent worldwide.
But there is still a long way to go! This disease kills 330 children around the world daily -- that’s 14 every hour – and is entirely preventable with a vaccine that costs only $1.
With support from Silicon Labs, the American Red Cross of Central Texas aims to convene the Central Texas community around this important cause and raise enough money to save 50,000 lives by midnight on November 13, 2014—the night of 50,000 lives.
With $1 you can help vaccinate one child. Together, we can save 50,000 lives in one special evening. For more information on the culminating “Night of 50,000 Lives” event at Parkside on November 13, 2014, visit Here.
