BENEFITING: The Chadtough Foundation
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 13
I just signed up for the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon!
Not only will I be training like crazy for my run, but more importantly I'm going to leverage all that training and hard work to help raise money for the ChadTough Foundation!
Chad and his family live in my community and it was heartbreaking to see what they went through. Chad was diagnosed with DIPG ,or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma ,days before his 4th birthday and passed away 14 months later. It was so hard seeing Chad, a sweet, loving , vibrant young boy have his life taken from him so early. Having 2 young sons myself I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for his family to lose their son in such a short amount of time knowing there was no treatment or cure . That is why I am doing this race so hopefully one day there will be some type of treatment or cure for this awful disease and other children and their families can have hope.
Currently there is a 0% survival rate for DIPG which is why Jason and Tammi Carr ,Chad's parents ,started the ChadTough foundation so hopefully one day there will be more progress towards fighting this disease. After Chad's death they are making it their mission to do all they can so no other families have to go through what they did. Only 4% of government funding goes to all childhood cancers, so DIPG researchers depend alot on private foundations like ChadTough to further their efforts.
With your donation and support we can help the ChadTough foundation to give some hope to other children and their families fighting this terrible illness.
Please consider helping me raise $2,500 for the ChadTough Foundation. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!
