BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF THE VERONA STREET ANIMAL SHELTER
EVENT DATE: Jun 08, 2013
I'm running the VSAS 5k on June 8th to help raise money (and awareness) for all the wonderful things that Verona Street Animal Society provides to local animals/pets. I'm here hoping to raise at least $250 (we can do better than that, can't we?) for Verona Street Animal Society by June 8th!
Pictured are the family dogs, Brutus the pug (and my fellow asthmatic), Coral the pitty, Roo the shepard mix, and the family cats Cali the calico, Shadow the black cat and Leo the gray cat. Coral, Roo, Cali, Shadow and Leo were rescues, and all of them have come a long way since we first brought them home (from separation anxiety to hissing- we've dealt with it all). If it wasn't for the local shelters we wouldn't have found them and they wouldn't have been a part of my family. I'm grateful for all the shelters in the area and everything they do to save as many lives as they can. The more money we raise, the more hope I have for the animals that end up abandoned to find their furever homes or be re-united with their lost family.
I'm also running this race in memory of a few of my beloved pets/family. I think they'd love to be honored in a way that helped save lives. For Tesla, my first dog- who kept me smiling even through the worst of times, For Chanel- who I didn't know for very long but I loved her nonetheless, for Ace- who found his way into my young heart and taught me about loss, for Jaws- who was a battle, but was one of the best cats I've had the pleasure of loving, and for all the little furry friends I've lost along way (Angel, Rasputin and Evil Knievel).
Please help me get to my goal (and hopefully surpass it) by donating today! :D Let's raise money and awareness for this awesome shelter! Below is a link to the shelter website so you can check out all the great things that they do.
