EVENT DATE: May 17, 2014
Dear friends and family,
Thank you for being so generous with your time and celebrating with us! For those who've inquired, we've set up a charity registry with three charities that are meaningful to us.
Nikki and Wynne
Precious Paws, Inc.
Precious Paws is a no-kill, 501(C)(3) non-profit organization solely staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to the rescue of stray cats and kittens in Orange County, NY. Precious Paws finds loving, safe homes for homeless cats, provides medical care for special-needs and sick cats, and advocates Trap/Neuter/Return methods for managing feral cat colonies. We adopted Snowy, Jill, and Ender from Precious Paws, and they have brought so much love and joy to our lives!
1st Infantry Division Foundation
Wynne served two tours in Iraq with the First Infantry Division, so this charity is especially near and dear to us. The 1st Infantry Division Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that provides scholarships to children of soldiers who died in service. The Foundation also tries to fill in gaps to help military families in need. For example, the Foundation recently paid travel and lodging expenses for the mother of a family based in Fort Riley, KS, so she could accompany her infant son while he was being treated by an eye cancer specialist in Philadelphia. These contributions make a big difference in the lives of active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.
The Children's Aid Society
The Children's Aid Society is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that provides comprehensive supports to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. These critical services include, but are not limited to, adoption and foster care, after-school and weekend programs, health services, and legal advocacy. At one of NIkki's schools in the city, the Children's Aid Society funded a variety of after-school academic, arts enrichment, and support programs, including Math Peer Tutoring. The kids had so much fun doing math you'd think they were at a wedding.
