BENEFITING: Nikolinas Attic Inc
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Nikolina’s Attic is named after my niece, Nikolina who is a 9 year old Cancer survivor. Nikolina was diagnosed at 3 years old, and finished treatment for Leukemia in February 2013. She spent countless hours in the hospital and clinic receiving treatment for two and a half years.
When she finished her final treatment, she asked if she could give her toys to the children that are still in the hospital. Her parents had to explain to her that they couldn't take used toys because the children could get sick, so she packed up two bags of her toys and said “Let’s sell these and give the money to Child Life so they can buy new toys for the kids!” That is when Nikolina’s Attic was born.
We began by packing up boxes of toys to sell and put it out on social media and the response was amazing! We received donations from people all over Long Island and it truly touched us to see how generous people were.
Every penny earned at our events goes to the Child Life Program at Stonybrook Cancer Clinic and will be used to buy new toys, games, crafts, and much, much more for the kids who are still in treatment with Cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
We are so happy to do this as a way of giving back for the tons of wonderful gifts and amazing care Nikolina received while she was in treatment.
I am running the 2016 NYC marathon and hope to raise $1000 for this cause that is so important to me and my family!
Please help us today by donating what you can!
