EVENT: Tour De Streets
EVENT DATE: Sep 10, 2016
Dear friends and family,
You know I love to get around by bike, foot and transit. It's not just because of the exercise or free parking. Its the most convenient and fun way to get around the city. I bump into friends and we ride on the train together, or stop to chat on the sidewalk, or grab a coffee. I stumble upon events I didn’t know were going on, or a farmers market, or I linger on the bridges and enjoy this beautiful ciy. It all makes me feel connected to the city and people.
Not coincidently, I'm on the board of the LivableStreets Alliance whos mission is to improve the balance of walking, biking and transit with cars— creating safe, convenient and affordable options in the metro Boston area. LivableStreets is making great progress on Vision Zero and the Emerald Network.
Our largest fundraiser takes place Saturday, September 10th, and I ask for your support. This year it’s at one of my favorite spots in the city—North Point Park [across from Museum of Science. If you haven’t been you are really missing something]. Great views of the city, the Zakim Bridge, the city’s new skate park, boats, trains, cars, bikes, and connections over the bike/ped bridge to Cambridge, Charlestown, the Charles River Lochs, and North Station.
To those of you who donated last year — THANK YOU! I hope all of you will consider supporting me this year. There are lots of ways to do that:
Donate – to my fundraising page [and see bottom for Disney passes]
Attend the BBQ / party – Attend the party with food, drinks, music, lawn games and playgrounds Register here and check the BBQ option ($25)
Adult Ride – Take a music-filled 10-mile bike “tour” of some of Boston’s river- and harbor-side development led by Peter Cheung (of Boston Bike Party fame) and finish with music, beer and bbq!
Family Ride – Bring your kids and join Megan Ramey (of Bikabout and family-biking expert extraordinaire) on a slow-paced 4-mile river tour that starts and ends at the playground-filled North Point Park!
Greenway Walk – Join Emerald Network Coalition staff to learn about Boston’s initiative to complete a seamless network of biking/walking paths across the Metro Boston area…and finish with beer and bbq!
I hope you can support me in some way,
With appreciation for you and our city,
P.S. I will not be there that day, but don't let that stop you from joining in the fun and be sure to let the organizer's know your connetion.
P.P.S. Disney donated four complimentary Park Hopper tickets $620.00 value], which provide admission to a magical one-day experience at any Disney theme park. Raise or donate $250 for Tour de Streets and your name will be added to a raffle to win these tickets!
