BENEFITING: Generation Ubuntu
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2015
I was thrilled (and terrified) to participate in the Westchester Triathlon, which took place on September 27th, 2015. I participated to raise funds and awareness for the charity Generation Ubuntu, which is creating positive change for children living with HIV in South Africa. Generation Ubuntu improves the health and well-being of participants through a holistic care model of health and nutrition, psycho-social support, HIV & life skills education, and community engagement.
- HIV is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5
- 100% of the children in Generation Ubuntu's program have not only survived, but thrived, in a country where 680 people die of AIDS related illnesses each day
- Many children living with HIV have been orphaned, live in poverty, and are victims of abuse and bullying
- The Generation Ubuntu program is becoming the GLOBAL model for every child living with HIV.
