"An Angel on earth and now in heaven."
Hello Family and Friends!
That is what my Mom, Rosey Portalatin, is. My Mom was the most loving, caring, funny, and generous person many of us have ever known. She would light up a room and bring a smile to everyone's face. She also gave the greatest hugs and made the BEST lasagna. As many of you know, I lost my Mom to lung cancer on January 15, 2004. She had never smoked a day in her life and it is just not right that this horrible disease kills so many and does not get the attention its victims deserve. On Saturday, July 23rd me and a few friends, Leeann Zondag, Adam Schepps, and Suzie Stevens, will be participating in the New Jersey State Triathlon. I wanted to get a group of people to participate and try to get as much support as we could to spread awareness and raise money for lung cancer research. It seemed only fitting to do this event in her honor two weeks before my wedding!
Please support us by making a donation through this page to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in New York City.
Thank you so much for being a part of this special day and feel free to pass this site along!!!!
Here are some facts:
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States among every ethnic group... 1 in every 3 cancer deaths.
Lung cancer will kill:
- More people than the next four deadly cancers... combined.
- Over three times as many men as prostate cancer.
- Nearly twice as many women as breast cancer.
- An average of 437 people a day.
Over 60% of new cases are never smokers or former smokers, many of whom quit decades ago.
