Nkosi's Haven was started on request of the great young HIV AIDS activist Nkosi Johnson who succumbed to the disease on 1 June 200. His dream and legacy continues and a project that was started with one woman and one child has grown continuously to realize his dream. This project is about continuing his legacy.
Nkosi's Haven Village is home to 177 HIV+ mothers and children and HIV orphans.
Due to many different reasons donors we could depend on in the past can no longer help us. We are therefore taking proactive action to ensure that Nkosi's Haven will be sustainable long into the future. All money raised goes directly to supporting those under our care.
We are aiming to become financially independent by raising funds to implement projects that would generate capital from our own efforts and the efforts of particularly the HIV Positive mothers that are residents at our facility.
This particular project is aimed at expanding our chicken farm which will produce 18000 chickens every six weeks. This will contribute to sending 85 kids to school, feed them and create job opportunities for the mother who currently are unable to find gainful employment due to their lack of skills and their state of health.
