We will be building a greenhouse and community garden in a Charlotte low-income community this May, and we need your help!
Our greenhouse and community garden will provide free, fresh produce to low-income individuals living in that area, and it will serve as an education center to teach the surrounding community healthy eating habits. The greenhouse will be completely sustainable, using only nature to function and replenish its resources. The garden will be big enough to feed 60-80 people weekly, but we will partner with the local farmers market to provide free or affordable fresh produce to the rest of the community. The education programs that we will integrate with our greenhouse/garden involve cooking classes, DIY classes on how to create your own garden, and STEM-focused classes that we will host for the surrounding schools. We have partnered with 100 Gardens to help us build our greenhouse and create the aforementioned programs, but we need to raise about $15,000 to afford the project costs.
