Orthopedic appt shcheduled
October 21, 2016

I just wanted to give you all a quick update. I have scheduled an appointment with Andrew Ward, an orthopedic surgery specialist at the Revere See More

THE STORY:

Today, I can't run.I have been dealing with a knee injury for the past two months.

On July 31st of this year, I ran my second full marathon (The San Francisco Marathon). After the first half of the race, I was not able to run more -even walking hurt and had to stop a few times and just sit on the side of the road. I didn't want to quit so I kept pushing myself. My left foot hurt so bad I started trying to compensate by putting all my weight on my right foot. Although I now know that doing that is never a good idea, at the moment I just wanted to finish, and I did. I finished my race with a time of 5:17:22.

I saw a chiropractor about a month ago, and he indicated I needed to keep stretching and icing, but I also was told that if pain didn't go away I needed to get an MRI of my knee to discard a torn ligament. It has been a few weeks, and I can't run more than a mile without feeling pain after.

Running has helped me become a better me, physically and emotionally. I love running, I run to face my fears and to reach new goals, but today I need your help. I need the funds to get an MRI done and to follow up with physical therapy. I don't have insurance and because of my current financial hardships I can't afford to pay out of packet for this treatment.

I run towards myself. Help me go back to that journey.
