No place like home

I have been privledged to meet this family. She's a single mother with four children ranging form 1-12 years old. She's a survivor. Her little 500 square foot trailer is the only possession she owns. She takes pride in raising her children. Every time I see them there's a smile on there faces and not a complaint. I recently figured out that the oldest girl was one of my players on a recreation soccer team I coached. I don't want to sound like I don't remember the kiddos, but I volunteer to coach a lot of sports. It's how I give back to the community. Well up until I met this family. I was introduced to this family when I received a phone call to install a back door on their trailer. When I showed up to give an estimate I saw their back door having to be pad locked shut to keep it closed. Not good, not good at all. So I dropped what I was doing and installed it right then and there. Doesn't sound like much, but it is where it begins. After taking care of this problem I've been compelled to help with this family with more issues, leaky roofs, replacing windows and a heater unit. She has supplied the money for the materials and some of the labor. In an attempt to bring some comfort to these hot summer days I have discovered a major electrical issue. This little trailer needs rewired! No ifs ands or buts about it. That's not cheap. It means removing all of the interior walls and insulation. From there, as everyone knows, it grows! The whole home needs refinished. I'm not trying to paint a picture of neglect. Not at all. We moved the family in was some of her friends and stored there belongings in our garage. She has come up with some of the project money herself, but it's not near enough. I will be the last to get paid, if I get paid. It doesn't matter. What matters is getting this little trailer restored to be there home again. I need your help. This is their home. Other than being given a different home, debt free. This is all they can afford. This is their home, their neighborhood their story. This family has changed the way I look at the world. How I value my possessions. It's the least I can do. Will you help me?
