THE STORY:

My name is Jessica. I'm a mother of two amazing and beautiful little girls and I'm trying to start over so I can offer my daughters the life they deserve. I've made some bad choices in the past few years and I'm trying so hard to stand tall. It's been a grueling 10 months or treatment and recovery but we're nearing the end and I'll be on my own with the tools to face life but without the funds. Back on June 2, 2014 my daughters were removed from my custody because of another domestic disturbance at my residence with my husband. The police had come too many times for the same reason and I gess they wanted to prove a point. I didn't understand then that they were trying to help but I now know that they'd seen it all too many times before and we're just doing their job. I took domestic violence education, anger management, AOD treatment, parenting classes individual therapy(which I'm still doing), meetings, testing, check ins...the works all in a effort to get my daughters back. They were released back into my custody on Feb. 6, 2015 but now I'm faced with the dilemma of how to support them. I applied for public assistance and was granted cash aid and food stamps, very grateful because we needed it. We are living in the home were the incidents happened and my husband will be released from house arrest in a different county next month. He served 6 months of his 1 year sentence. When he gets released he will try and weasel his way back into our life's and I can't risk losing my children, my self worth, emotional stability and courage. I'm trying to move back to my home town in San Luis Obispo county so I can be with my family and friends and receive their love, encouragement and support while I continue to heal from all the trauma. My mother also committed suicide in 2013 which I believe his bullying played a part in. I just need to gain full freedom from him and live the life I deserve and provide the life my children deserve. I want them to see a strong woman before them and have confidence in themselves and choose the right man. The cycle in my family stops with me! I really appreciate the time you took to read about my fundraiser. Please note that once I get my debt paid off and a home for the 3 of us I would like to go back to cosmetology school and give makeovers to women escaping violent environments. God put me on this Earth for a reason and I know my reason is to help others but I had to swallow my pride and ask for help first so I can be of service to you one day. I'm praying for all the families caught in the cross fire of domestic violence, may God be with you! AMEN
