I have selected The First Tee of Greater Sacramento as my charity for the 2017 Capital Cup for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I am an avid, albeit mediocre golfer. Not only does The First Tee provide an opportunity for children from all backgrounds to learn the game of golf, but they do so while simultaneously teaching these children about life through their The First Tee Nine Core Values & Nine Healthy Habits. They use golf as a vehicle to teach core values, life skills and healthy habits to young people and help give them the skills they need to flourish in their lives today and in the future. Their programs serve juniors from the ages of 3-18, and individuals with disabilities from youth through adulthood. The First Tee of Greater Sacramento is currently impacting over 18,500 young people in the greater Sacramento Area. For me personally, I experienced The First Tee of Greater Sacramento via my then 6 year old’s involvement. My daughter was a participant in the summer program, and much like most dads, I was so excited to hear how her first day at golf camp went. So I inquired as to what they did at camp that day. “What clubs did you hit? How far did you hit the ball?” When my daughter answered with “Daddy, today we learned about Respect!”, I realized that this was an organization that I wanted to be involved with. Please join me in supporting a wonderful Sacramento based organization!
