The next time you’re in a room with 6 people, think about this:
1 in 5 women are survivors of rape.
1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men have experienced some form of sexual victimization in their lives.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men were sexually abused before the age of 18.
These are not numbers. They’re your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children, co-workers and friends. They’re people you know and interact with every single day.
On November 2, I will be running the New York Marathon to raise awareness and funds for The Joyful Heart Foundation and the No More campaign.
The mission of the Joyful Heart Foundation is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and to shed light into the darkness that surrounds these issues.
The "No More" campaign introduces a unifying symbol designed to galvanize greater awareness and seeks to spark new conversations about these problems and moving this cause higher on the public agenda. There are No More excuses for being silent about these issues.
We can eradicate sexual assault and domestic violence but we have to work together to do it.
I’m asking you to please make a contribution and share this page with your friends and family. All contributions are tax deductible.
A donation of any size – big or small-- is appreciated, but if you can’t contribute financially at this time, please take some time to learn about ways you can build awareness for the No More campaign using tools on this website: http://nomore.org/
