Noni is a one year old American Bulldog mix with a great big smile, a fun loving personality and a big health problem. We brought Noni into our rescue program knowing she had some sort of urinary tract issue that could require significant surgical and/or medical intervention. She is such a nice dog that we wanted to give her a chance at a healthy life. We took Noni to Purdue University Small Animal Hospital where diagnostic testing found her to have ectopic ureters. Ectopic means the ureters are not connected to the bladder properly. In Noni's case, one ureter was connected directly into the top of the urethra and the other was connected directly into the vagina, causing her to continuously be dribbling urine. This meant that no urine was actually draining into her bladder. Noni had urine scalding on the inner legs, tail and abdomen. Despite the fact that this condition was causing her so much discomfort, she was full of kisses and butt wiggles for everyone she met. Noni has had her surgeries to correct the placement of the ureters and just came home from the hospital today. She is no longer dribbling urine, but has a long recovery ahead of her. Everything looks very positive right now for her to have a full recovery. The cost for her care as of today is $4300. Wish Bone Canine Rescue frequently brings in dogs that require specialty care, believing every dog deserves a chance at finding their forever family. The expenses can run high, as in Noni's case, so we need to seek donations to help offset the veteirnary bills for these deserving companion animals and allow us to save more animals.
