BENEFITING: DUB ACADEMY INC
Before I moved to Austin last summer, I had been learning to DJ and produce music with a very talented producer in New York, Ryan Negrin of Wild Dark. Ryan not only taught me DJing skills and music production, but he inspired me to keep working at it after I moved. Fortunately, Austin happens to be home of an amazing DJ school, Dub Academy. I immediately started taking classes, where I have continued to hone my DJing and music production skills. My teacher, Kaivan "KB" Bazleh, and all the other instructors at Dub Academy have met me with encouragement and an eagerness to share their knowledge and teach me how to be the best DJ I can be. I am very fortunate to have access to such a great school and the means to pay for lessons.
What I soon learned was that Dub Academy was also a non-profit organization that provides these classes and mentoring to kids who don’t have the means to pay for or have access to them. Dub Academy provides after-school programs, reaching out to these kids who want to learn the electronic arts in a healthy environment. Dub Academy’s mission is to “inspire innovation through electronic arts education, fostering a sense of achievement, community, and connection through media exploration.” I know they achieve this from my own experience studying with the great instructors there.
For my community project, I decided I wanted to do what I could to raise money and awareness for Dub Academy and their mission. I want to ensure that Dub can continue to reach out to those less-fortunate kids who share the same passion as mine, and to enrich their lives, as it has enriched mine.
I am reaching out to all of you so that you may have the opportunity to donate and to help spread awareness of such a great cause. Every donation helps make a positive impact on the lives of these kids!
Thank you for helping to spread awareness and your support!
