HARD HATS. STRONG WOMEN. BUILDING THE FUTURE.
Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) recruits, trains, and places women in careers in construction and the skilled trades.
NEW graduates are working as carpenters, electricians, ironworkers, laborers, plumbers, porters, and operating engineers thanks to a unique partnership with the real estate industry in New York City.
NEW provides much needed services to women in underserved communities. With NEW’s training, women have access to careers with starting wages averaging $17 per hour, benefits, and a path to higher-wage employment.
NEW is celebrating its 35thAnniversary. While NEW has had great success and placed over 1,000 women in industry jobs in the last few years, in a City of more than eight million there is much more work to be done. We need to increase our efforts, our reach, and our partnerships to help more women access these careers.
