Come out to City Park Grill

If you didn’t know, I am a Flint native. The downtown brick streets bare the blood sweat & tears of my adolescence. I can’t sit back, so I am compelled to be an advocate for my fellow Flintoids. On March 12th, City Park Grill located in downtown Petoskey has agreed to hold the date to for a benefit for the crisis that I consider to be a blatant neglect, affecting the young, old and the entire population of my hometown. I would consider it a honor if any artist would donate artwork or businesses donate goods/gift certificates for a silent auction. I am calling upon musicians or bands to play and help raise funds to donate for this crisis. This is not a drive to bring bottled water to Flint, but to bring what the community really needs now and for the future in monetary donations will help cover the copays, medical bills and treatment for those that have been affected by this unfortunate situation. I have been in contact with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint about their efforts in providing these needs. This organization which heads the Flint Child Health & Development Fund knows the needs of Flint children exposed to lead, particularly those most vulnerable- children 0-6 - are ongoing and long-term. Even small amounts of lead can cause serious health problems, children however, are more vulnerable. Physical & mental development are at risk and the long-term effects will not be entirely clear for some time. Flint has suffered enough. I am not going to point fingers as to who did, who let this happen. it did and now is a call to action, a call to make a difference, not our for ourselves, but for the greater good. The children of Flint, like any other child in any community or country should have access to everyday necessities, such as clean water. The children of Flint should be to live without the fear of being poisoned by the very thing that sustains life, water. Let's show the children and the people of Flint that we care. Musicians, please email me your availability to perform and social media links. Music will start at 4pm and run until 1:30am. This will let those that have prior commitments later in the evening to perform. Artists and or business owners, if you would like to donate items for the silent auction, please email me that info. If anyone that would like make a monetary donation for advertising costs, it would would be greatly appreciated. We are also looking for volunteers to help facilitate this event and its components. “If there was ever a time to invest in our children, it is now. Our Flint children deserve every opportunity to be healthy and successful. The creation of this Fund will further ensure that our children are afforded the resources and interventions to overcome this population-wide exposure to lead.” - Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, Hurley Medical Center Can I count you in?
