Northern UKnighted with Phil Ford
Organized by: Christina Woelffer
From 5:30-6:30 pm on April 10th, the gymnasium at Northern High School opens its doors to the community to enjoy a special appearance by Phil Ford as he speaks about his childhood, his trials and triumphs, and his journey that ultimately led him to become a UNC Sports Hall of Famer and former NBA Rookie of the year. The suggested cash donation of $5 per person or $10 per family will be collected at the door and affords you the opportunity to hear Mr. Ford speak and enters you into a raffle for autographed prizes. All proceeds benefit Northern High School’s Young Men of Progress.
For more information on YMOP or to get involved, please email Christina.email@example.com.
YMOP is a scholastically rigorous, highly principled, peer-supportive group, black males at NHS. The 75+ members are proving the program works: state test scores and grades are up, suspensions and discipline problems are down, and these young men dare to dream about things like starting their own business, becoming an artist, and going to college. From trips to Washington, DC, visits to UNC and Duke locker rooms, a summer leadership program, and everyday accountability in and out of the classroom, these young men are sealing their destinies with their own hard work.
If you want to help these exceptional young men forge their journey and get some one-on-one time for yourself with Mr. Ford, click "Buy Now" to the right to check out the various ways to kill two birds with one donation (hint: golfing, dining, dribbling, or touring Carolina’s Basketball Museum with Mr. Ford are up for grabs! First buy, first win!).
