On every last Saturday of each month, we send boxes of socks by transport method of large balloons along the border of South and North Korea.
Relief for North Korea famine:
Some of world's most severe economic hardships could be found in North Korea.
Since early 1990s until now, estimated up to 3.5 million North Korean people died from starvation or hunger-related illnesses.
Our group is committed to take actions now, that provides immediate relief to the harsh reality of the people of North Korea today.
Imagine being famine stricken in North Korea, with little ability to change the circumstances, and you find a leaflet and a pair of socks which lands from the sky.
The leaflet reads:
"Dear This Flyer Finder,
The world has not forgotten the current hardships of our fellow brothers and sisters in North Korea. From all countries, we pray for your survival until the day of reunification. We love you."
The pair of socks, could be used in 2 ways.
1: It can be worn to make it through the cold winters.
2: It can be sold on the local market for cash, which could afford 10 kilos of corn which is 1 months of food supply
We especially have the intention that our work will reach to support the young children of North Korea.
Our goal is to receive dontations (money or socks) to enable us to send 1000 pairs of socks each and every month to be transported by balloons along the border of South and North Korea. (Our goal is 1000 socks per day by January 2012)
-basic necessity for people of all ages
-critical item especially in cold winters
-affordable (less than $1.00)
-could be converted to cash in North Korea to buy food
