North Park Mission Trip to Panama
Organized by: Elizabeth Armstrong
I will be attending North Park University this coming fall. As you can imagine, choosing a college is not an easy decision, however, I know that North Park is the perfect fit for me to grow as a young lady and continue my education. I am extremely excited about starting the next chapter of my life in August and for what the next four years has in store for me. I will also be playing on the North Park Women's soccer team. I look forward to being a part of a team that will help shape me as a person give me the opportunity to play the game I love with an incredible group of ladies. In January 2016, my teammates and I are going on a Global Partnerships trip to Panama to work with children in under privileged communities. We will not only be playing soccer with local Panamanian teams, but we will also be participating in and sponsoring a sports camp with local children. In addition, we will have the chance to engage in humanitarian work in Panama City to strengthen their community in ways that are sustainable. I am very excited for this trip because it will give my team and I a new perspective of the world, and provide us with an opportunity to learn and serve with people in a different culture than our own. This trip will also bring the team together for a purpose that exceeds just playing soccer together. This leads me to the purpose of this fundraiser. Global Partnership trips are opportunities for students or teams to experience different cultures and grow through serving others in a significant way. However, gaining this experience is not cheap! I have made a commitment to myself and to my team to raise $1500 to cover my travel costs to Panama, room and board, and to purchase any equipment necessary to put the camp together. We will be raising money as a team. If you would like to support my teammates and I as we embark on this adventure and life changing experience together next January, then I encourage you to donate $25, $50, $100, or more by September 1, 2015. Global Partnerships trips are not possible without the help of people like you! Thank you for taking the time to read my fundraising letter! Thank you for your support as well!
