BENEFITING: Civil War Trust
We just secured an important piece of hallowed ground at Antietam Battlefield, and we need your help to protect this land.
The 1.2-acre property is located at the historic North Woods on the Antietam Battlefield near Nicodemus Heights. The Battle of Antietam remains the costliest day in American history, with 23,000 American casualties on a single day of combat—more than Pearl Harbor, Normandy or 9/11. This land is an important piece of our nation’s story.
- We secured this tract for $300,000 during competitive bidding at public auction nearly 153 years to the day after the battle was fought.
- The Save Historic Antietam Foundation has pledged the first $50,000.
- Today, we’re calling on YOU to help us raise $25,000— 10% of the rest of the funds — by rallying your friends and followers to support the cause on CrowdRise.
- We must raise the funds by November 3rd in order to own the property and protect it forever.
Please give more than just funds: Lend your energy to save this battleground! Rally your friends, family members, neighbors, history lovers and fellow battlefield preservationists to raise money alongside you by launching fundraising campaigns on CrowdRise!
We urgently need your help to preserve a critical piece of our nation’s history and to honor the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought at Antietam.
Will you help us save the North Woods Tract at Antietam Battlefield today?
