D. Glenn Trail III via Crowdrise
December 14, 2011
BENEFITING: MARKEY CANCER FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2011
My name is D. Glenn Trail III. I had originally decided this November to grow a beard like all crazy guys do in honor of NoShave November just for the heck of it. My wife turned to me a week into this mission and said if I was gonna grow a beard, at least do it for a cause. Needless to say this got me thinking! I decided I'd take her at her word and here I am looking more and more unkempt daily for a cause. The original picture of me beardless was Oct. 15th this year. As you can see since, I have become a hairy beast. Yes growing the hair is fun, but more importantly, I do care about this cause.
The mission, raise money for the Markey Cancer Research Center of Lexington,KY. This is an issue near and dear to my heart having lost two grandparents, two of my favorite great aunts (I'm from a big southern family) and also never got to meet my Father-In-Law due to his passing from cancer. Markey Cancer Research Center not only allows for comprehensive care to those in the region afflicted with cancer, but it also allows for research to improve care and treat as effectively as possible.
The Request, offer as much as you are able or willing. Each dollar allows you a vote. You can either vote that at the end of December 10,2011 I shave my beard. Or at the end of that time I continue growing it until New Years.
My wife is praying you folks vote for me to shave. I will update pictures later with Bearded progress. Thanks and God Bless.
(I chose Markey Cancer Center because it my hometown's primary Cancer Research and Care Center in Lexington,KY. I also was inspired previously by one of my running and twitter friends, Robert Parks Johnson or Fat Man Running on Crowdrise, who's own story of battling cancer and overweight is simply one of the most inspiring stories i've ever heard. Bob or Pennsy and many of his friends and family have benefited from Markey's work!)
