Every day people struggle with mental health related experiences. An estimated 1 in 4 adults will suffer from a diagnosable mental illness in a given year and over 1 million die by suicide each year. The web of people affected by these issues is even greater.
But, studies show that peer support programs lead to stronger social support systems, increase the likelihood of treatment follow through, and can even reduce hospitalizations or re-admissions due to mental health crises. Our community is no exception, and provides support for those who have lived through a mental health related experience. We even have an online help center with mental health resources and educational material available to the public.
