Community Fitness and Health Program
Organized by: Shoshana Riley
Seventeen years ago I was told that there was a 60-70% chance that I would lose significant muscle function, my ability to walk or speak, and may succumb to blindness. Those are just a few of the wide ranging debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis. However, today, I stand as a living testament to the statistically proven restorative effects of proper diet and exercise. Nearly two decades after my diagnosis, I am not only in the prime health of my life, but I am now also a certified fitness trainer and advocate. In 2013, I founded NShape, LLC. with the mission to help people like me, whom are facing tough challenges to their health but are unable to find health and fitness options suitable to their unique disposition or financial situation. We are on a mission to help senior citizens and people who suffer medical conditions and obesity that are simply unable to receive appropriate health and fitness support training. In America today, about half of the population is overweight and about a quarter of the population is obese. Obesity is associated with many conditions that are harmful including; ∙ High blood pressure ∙ Diabetes ∙ Gallbladder disease ∙ Cancer ∙ Arthritis ∙ Joint problems ∙ Poor Circulation ∙ Body aches and muscle spasms The notion of fitness and health is frequently glamorized as a necessity for the youthful and athletic. As a result, services promoting healthy, active lifestyles are usually targeted towards a younger, more physically active crowd, and often forgotten and unreported are the number of senior citizen, disabled, or severely obese individuals, that suffer from health problems at a vastly higher rate than the rest of the population. With a limited number of health programs or services geared towards the many disadvantaged individuals suffering from obesity, NShape, LLC. seeks to innovate the fitness industry by catering to these overlooked but rapidly growing populations. We are creating a program that will help low income people have better access to exercise programs, fitness trainers and nutritional information and services. We need your help to get this program up and running. Low income people typically have less access to healthy foods and healthy activities. We are hoping to hit our goal in a short amount of time as we are already working with the monies that we have as individuals. Know that WHATEVER you donate will be GREATLY appreciated. Please share this with your friends and family around the world and ask that they participate in donating. Many thanks for your time, support and donation!!!
