THE STORY:

Message from CEO of NSSW

As we are mobilizing our students and our college capacities in the immediate relief, we realized that the needs are very high as unreachable survivors are still not reached. We began our relief program by buying the good in relief. Our 6 students and faculty along with Aaroh volunteers went to the ground in Sindhupalchowk( Sipapokhare) , reaching 913 household, providing immediate relief with rice. lentil, tarpaulin sheet/ blankets/ soap/ mattress. Our team ...at the college is raising funds to cover the expenses. Our program in this short time span of 7-10 days is going to support 913 homeless families. After that, as per our authorities in the area, the government will get the further supplies. However, we will further go again after a week to survey our immediate intervention navigate the further strategy.

We are applying our social work camp model for the intervention where our social workers/ aid workers live with the community, build rapport, assess the need and bridge the resources. We had been able to convinced the community that within the 7-10 days, the 913 household will get the supplies. We are successful in convincing people to wait for a day or two and get the goods in series where there were incidence of looting and not letting people to come with ample supply previously.

As our team now is in the field and focusing on helping the people, we are not been able to get the photos of the program being carried out. We would like to inform all of our well wishers and fundraiser that, with two successive days distribution of our relief camp in 4 days , out team has distributed the relief goods to 4 wards among the total 9 wards of Sipapokhare.

We know that, after the immediate relief, the real work of social workers are coming where we will be involved in recovery , reconstruction and reintegration. We have a long term goal as we are capable of mobilizing our skill and approaches of social work in intervention with our young , passionate students who are going to be with us for at least next 2 years.. Please donate whatever amount you want to help us to HELP SURVIVORS TO HELP THEMSELVES for short term and long term as well.

We will be happy to provide you any receipt of the fund support if you need and show you the fund mobilization.
