BENEFITING: TEN TALENTS GLOBAL INITIATIVES
EVENT DATE: May 30, 2013
To my friends and family,
I want to share some exciting news with you. I will be joining the organization, Nurses for Africa for a short-term medical mission trip to Zambia! Nurses for Africa is a non-profit organization created by mission-minded people from medical communities across the Midwest. Their goal is to connect people of talent in the medical communities of industrialized nations with the needs of people in developing nations.
Since the beginning of my career, I have dreamt that I would be able to use my skills and passion for nursing to help those who are truly in need. Through Nurses for Africa, my dream will finally come true. I will be traveling to the Village of Susu in Zambia. It is a small village several hours north of the capital city Lusaka.
Zambia is in dire need of help. More than 70 percent of Zambians live in poverty. There is a severe doctor shortage, as there are 10,000 patients for roughly one practicing doctor. Because of this shortage, many Zambians are not able to receive the healthcare they so desperately need. The life expectancy is around 39 years and HIV/AIDS kills around 100,000 people each year. I feel very humbled that I will be able to provide healthcare and education to those so in need, even if it is just for a short period of time.
Nurses for Africa has been underwritten by Ten Talent Global Initiatives. It is a 501c3 charity base out of Missouri. If you able to help donate towards my trip cost and the people of Zambia, funds can be sent directly to Ten Talent Global initiatives. Donations given are tax deductible. I would love for you to help me and be part of this ministry effort in Zambia. If you cannot give financially, know that you can still be part of our prayer team!
Thank you for your support!
