Who We Are
Nuru Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides assistance to poor children, especially those orphaned by HIV/AIDS in the rural areas of Kenya. The organization is the brainchild of three friends - Shem Orwenyo, Bilha Gichuki and Gladys Mutinda. All three are committed to giving back to the rural communities in which they grew up.
To empower orphaned and poor children in rural Kenya to achieve their highest potential and grow to become confident, competent, self-reliant, and productive members of their communities by providing food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and educational opportunities.
Education Scholarships: Secondary education is not free in Kenya. Through scholarships, we wille nsure that students can attend high school and beyond.
Kikapu: A program aimed at providing holiday meals to the poorest in the communities.
HIV/AIDS Awareness: A program designed to raise the HIV/AIDS awareness in rural Kenya and help remove the stigma associated with the epidemic.
