THE STORY:

What is the Microphilanthropy Initiative?

Financial aid for Nutrition Communication students - in honor of Dr. Jeanne Goldberg

Americans' top sources of nutrition information are magazines, television, newspapers, and the internet. The print, broadcast, and electronic media are constantly seeking professionally-trained nutritionists who can communicate effectively. The same is true of public relations agencies, the food industry, and health and fitness centers.

The Master's Degree Program in Nutrition Communication is designed to prepare its graduates for the growing job opportunities available to professionals trained to explain research findings in ways that the public can understand and apply.

Started and run by faculty member Dr. Jeanne Goldberg, this program is the first of its kind in the nation.

One of the biggest challenges for incoming students is the cost of tuition. Friedman School Advisor, Bill Layden*, is leading a charge to raise $15,000 in honor of Jeanne to provide needed financial aid for nutrition communication students. Bill and Lee Anne Layden are committing $7,500, will you join them in giving?

*Bill Layden is a founder and partner in FoodMinds, LLC a consulting and communications company,
