Preserve Puget Sound!
Help protect the Pacific Northwest’s wildlife from Dirty Coal.
Whale watching off the coast in Puget Sound is one of the most spectacular and time-honored traditions in the Pacific Northwest. But the beauty of seeing some of the world’s largest animals in their natural habitat could become a spectacle of the past if Big Coal is allowed to follow through with its plans to export millions of tons of coal per year from the Pacific Northwest.
With your support and the 1-1 match from the Energy Foundation on the first $8,000 raised, we can shine the light on just how devastating dirty coal is for wildlife and put an end to the coal industry’s plans.
Our goal to raise $20,000 would put the power of our more than 50,000 supporters and the National Wildlife Federation to work to:
- Organize a delegation of tribal and other leaders to meet with lawmakers in Washington, DC
- Commission an economic study on the cost of dirty energy projects on wildlife in the region
- Launch a legal campaign to force the government to consider climate impacts of new energy projects
- Develop community action kits for members and supporters
Our supporters have already helped us stop three of six proposed coal export terminals, but we need your help to stop dirty coal in the Pacific Northwest once and for all!
Together we can make a difference. We hope you will join us in this important fundraising drive.
