EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
To finish a marathon, an individual needs many things. You need courage to take on one of the greatest physical challenges you may ever face. You need the perseverance to log in the many miles and hours necessary to prepare your body for the distance. You need the strength to will your body to continue, though you may want to quit many times.
About 1 in 8 women will also need these to have these qualities but for a much more important reason - to beat breast cancer. They will need courage to face the diagnosis and battle the disease head on. They will need perseverance to endure the countless treatments, surgeries and doctors' appointments. They will need strength to continue, though they may want to quit many times.
I am prepared to take on the challenge of running the New York City Marathon to raise money for the Carol M. Baldwin Research Fund (www.findacure.org) that provides funding for Breast Cancer Research. I am running for the hope of a cure and to honor those who have been affected by this disease. Someone has friends or family who has been touched by breast cancer, and I am honored to contribute to such an important cause.
Your donation WILL make a difference to the 1 in 8 women who are diagnosed at some point in their lifetime by helping to fund research investigating the causes, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. I would love to hear if you are donating on behalf of someone who has or is currently battling the disease. I would like to keep them in our thoughts throughout my training process.
I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for your support and donation for my cause. Your encouragement means the world to me and I can't thank you enough.
See you all at the finish line!
