November 27, 2016
BENEFITING: NYC YOGA PROJECT INC
NYC Yoga Project is a 501c3 charitable organization whose mission is to provide yoga to underserved people throughout NYC. NYC Yoga Project partners with established non-profit organizations to bring educational workshops, asana and meditation practices to New Yorkers through the active participation of local certified yoga instructors.
This fundraiser is to support NYC Yoga Project's - 2017 Project Goals so that we may provide FREE community classes, additional health and wellness resources and provide a safe space for people to achieve their full potential.
NYC Yoga Project - 2017 Project Goals include:
- purchasing new yoga mats and blocks
- incorporating yoga art and yoga dance projects into our curriculum
- paying our amazing Yoga Teachers
- advancing the trauma training of our Yoga Teachers
- using technology to show our impact and grow our community
- having a physical yoga space for participants to practice FREE yoga
To acheive all of these goals, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
NYC Yoga Project started this journey with one pilot program at Atlas DIY, a 501c3 whose mission is to provide immigrant youth's access to legal services, leadership development and learning opportunities in a space owned run and governed by the youth. In 2015, NYC Yoga Project expanded programming and by 2016, we have provided access to yoga to over 12 partner organizations, impacting over 500 participants in NYC communities to include homeless, immigrant, black and LGBT youth, as well as those battling addiction. We now have over 7 Yoga Teachers who graciously support these efforts as we expand and grow!
Our organization has many long-term goals to improve the health, wellness, and education of New York City residents. NYC Yoga Project was founded by Dawn Rizzo, a native New Yorker, who was impacted by various forms of trauma and had limited access to resources in the NYC community. Years later, she discovered that yoga provided tools to navigate through challenging circumstances in her life and chose to share these tools with others who were in similar circumstances as her.
We invite you to help us evolve our organization - PLEASE DONATE NOW!
