Please support students, youth, faith groups and community organizations as they travel from Long Island and Westchester to NYC For the Coalition of Immokalee Worker's (CIW) 2016 Workers' Voice Tour Kick Off!
We will be joining the CIW and its local allies in marching to the Park Avenue offices of Wendy's Board Chairman Nelson Peltz to urge him to bring the final fast food holdout, Wendy's, to respect farmworker human rights by joining the Fair Food Program. We will be organizing buses to the action from Long Island and Westchester at an approximate cost of $2500. In order to accommodate everyone interested and not turn anyone down due to lack of funds, we have sliding scale registration fees for the buses. Please support our efforts and donate now!
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers is a worker led human rights organization. The CIW's 2016 Workers' Voice Tour will focus on the campaign calling on Wendy's to join to sign onto the Fair Food Program. The NYC action that kicks off the tour will be a march to the offices of Nelson Peltz, Wendy's Chairman of the Board and principal of the company's largest stockholder, Trian Partners. The tour is the CIW's response to Wendy's recent decisions to intentionally move tomato purchases away from Florida and its FFP-participating farms, and the corporation's recent release of an aspirational supplier Code of Conduct that excludes workers and their voices from the enforcement of worker protections in the fields.
