BENEFITING: Seeds of Peace, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Seeds of Peace, Inc.
EVENT: Bridges to Peace Global
EVENT DATE: Sep 29, 2013
I have been invovled with Seeds of Peace since that unforgettable summer in 2006 when I was an American Seed. Since then, I have had the privilege of returning to Camp as a counselor for two years (2010-2011) and am now a full-time staff member, running our American Seeds programs, working with our two domestic programs in Maine and Syracuse, and working on Camp programming and logistics year-round.
Seeds of Peace changed my life in the profoundest of ways. At just 17, my experiences at Camp inspired me to set my life on a difficult path--one that would require me to shake-off ignorance, ambivalence, and inaction in the face of injustice, inequality, intolerance, hatred, and fear of what we are unfamiliar with. Seeds of Peace challenged me to confront what we accept as "normal", to push the boundaries of my own comfort zones, and to expand and deepend my knowledge of the world around me, from my hometown of Dallas, to New York, to Jerusalem, to Kabul, and every place in between.
Seeds of Peace taught me how I want to carry myself as a member of this global community and showed me how I want to see the world and all those within it... and the Seeds, counselors, educators, colleagues, and friends that make up this Seeds community continue to teach, inspire, challenge, push, and shape me on a daily basis. And for that, I will be eternally grateful to this organization and to all the people that make it what it truly is.
Please join me in supporting our Seeds all over the world who are working to make their communities a better place...
