BENEFITING: New York City Coalition Against Hunger, Inc.
This year for my birthday, I'm asking all my friends and loved ones to consider making a donation to The New York City Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH), a local charity that rates high on Charity Navigator.
NYCCAH represents the more than 1,200 nonprofit soup kitchens and food pantries in New York City and the more than 1.4 million low-income New Yorkers who live in homes that can't afford enough food. The Coalition works to meet the immediate food needs of low-income New Yorkers and enact innovative solutions to help them move beyond the soup kitchen to self-sufficiency. Founded in 1983, NYCCAH's original mission was to coordinate the activities of the emergency food providers in the city so that issues can be identified, prioritized and addressed effectively. Though its aims have expanded and evolved over the last two decades, food access for all New Yorkers has always remained the Coalition's animating goal.
