BENEFITING: AUTISM SPEAKS
ORGANIZER: Autism Speaks
EVENT: NYC Half 2016 Autism Speaks
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
What can I say, I entered the lottery for the NYC Half Marathon and I didn't get in, BUMMER! If you had asked me two years ago if I would ever be a runner PLUS be one of those people that asked you to donate your hard earned money to this sometimes awesome and always tiring habit of mine called running, I would have laughed in your face. But my how have things changed.
I have always wanted to run the NYC Half Marathon because it is the only time you get to run through Times Square without dodging characters- you know the cartoon furies, tourists, monks, drunks, etc.
I figured if I’m going to raise money for a charity it should be for one that is near and dear to my heart. There are some VERY special people in my life that deal with Autism on a daily basis. I may not know what to do to help or what to say to ease their struggles but I do know how to RUN! So this is my way of showing my support. I will not only train my butt off for a new personal record, but I will raise as much money as I possibly can in hopes of helping not only my loved ones but all the families that suffer from Autism.
I should also note that the first race I ever ran 1 ½ year ago was for Autism Speaks. Why not make the one and only time* I run the NYC Half Marathon in support of the same charity right? It would be my honor to do so.
*don’t hold me to that one and only line above
