BENEFITING: Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York
ORGANIZER: Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York
EVENT DATE: Mar 19, 2017
Many people know that my mother has lived with epilepsy for most of her life. Luckily, her seizures are controlled with the use of medication and this has allowed her to live a fulfilling life that includes being an active and loving mother and grandmother. It is through research and support of foundations such as the EFMNY that my mother, Martha Nemeth is able to live the productive life she does.
I have also seen how devastating this condition can be through my dear friends' son Tommy, who suffered from severe seizures and other neurological complications. On January 31, 2014 Tommy tragically passed away just months before his second birthday. His life, while short, had a profound impact on everyone who knew him. Tommy was an unbelievable fighter, who demonstrated superhero strength in every battle he fought, everyday. For this reason, Tommy is lovingly remembered as Superman to his family and friends who miss him so very much.
For the third year, I am proud to be running the NYC Half Marathon on the EFMNY Team in honor of my incredibly strong mother, Martha Nemeth and in memory of Thomas 'Superman' Vasile III. They are both superheroes to me.
