BENEFITING: SUMMER STARS CAMP FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
"This camp changed my life!"
For 17 years, hundreds of deserving kids have attended this 10 day overnight camp, at no cost to their families, a policy to which we are deeply committed. WE RELY 100% ON THE GENEROSITY OF OUR DONORS WHO GIVE IN AMOUNTS RANGING FROM $25 TO $10,000.
SUMMER STARS CAMP FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IS DEVOTED TO PROVIDING ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN, AGES 12 - 17, WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER THEMSELVES AND THEIR POTENTIAL THROUGH THE PERFORMING ARTS.
What makes this opportunity so valuable is that Summer Stars provides these children not only a respite from the realities of life, but a life-changing experience. By meeting other kids with the same interests, by working with a caring staff that holds them to the highest standards, they learn that working hard makes it possible for them to get places they never thought possible. They take these standards, this work ethic, and a renewed sense of self-worth into all facets of their lives.
One of the many reasons our alumni are so dedicated to Summer Stars is because they say they learn more in a week than they do in a school year, and in the safest of environments in all senses of the word. You just can't imagine how grateful these kids and the amazingly talented, hard working staff are!!
"You have no idea how much this camp has changed me and made me feel better about myself. I didn't realize a place so perfect existed and It's a miracle that I was able to go!"
“Summer Stars, a place for a teenager like me eager for diversity, knowledge, and immense fun. For lack of better words a place easily compared to heaven. It has also been an escape for the problems and struggles we as children of this era face. Judgement, criticism, bullying, loneliness. All these feelings and actions are non existent at Summer Stars. If I had the chance to come back to summer stars no words in the Webster dictionary could describe how ecstatic I’d be.""At Summer Stars I’ve learned how to come out of my shell and take risks with new things. Although it sounds a little cliche, most people actually don’t have the self esteem that it takes to put themselves out there. The fact that this camp has taught me such a thing is simply incredible."
