BENEFITING: Nepal Youth Foundation
52,000 classrooms have been destroyed by the earthquake in Nepal and are in need of reconstruction. This has forced hundreds of thousands of students to attend classes in tents and makeshift shacks that will most probably not even survive the monsoon season. The future of all these students is in jeopardy until school can be reconstructed and their right to an education ensured.
As a trial run for its massive School Reconstruction Program, NYF has already constructed 8 earthquake resistant class rooms that can be built cheaply and quickly using light weight prefabricated materials, and is now on its way to build more.
TARGET Unit: 250 Class Rooms in 1 year | Size: 400 sq.ft. per classroom | Cost: US$2,500 per classroom
