BENEFITING: MID-HUDSON CIVIC CENTER INC
The NY Nightshade operates under the auspices of the Mid Hudson Civic Center and is raising money to help grow the sport of Blind Ice Hockey in the United States.
The NY Nightshade is the first Blind Ice Hockey Association in the United States. The Nightshade exists to provide an opportunity for the Blind & Visually Impaired Community in the United States to learn and play the emerging sport of Blind Ice Hockey.
The sport is inclusive: it is co-ed and can be played by individuals from the age of 5 to 105. The adaptive rules limit the contributions of the individual, and promote teamwork. There is a role for every level of eyesight from the totally blind goalie to the minimally sighted defense to the partially sighted forwards. Blind & Visually Impaired persons have limited opportunities to participate in sport, and Blind Ice Hockey is one of the only truly team sports in the space.
While the NY Nightshade is fortunate to receive all of its ice time for free from the Ice Time Sports Complex / Mid Hudson Civic Center, it still incurs expenses in providing opportunities. The funds from this fundraiser will be managed by the Mid Hudson Civic Center and will be used to fund the following.
- Transportation between hotel and arena for athletes at national competitions
- Between game meals for athletes during national competitions
- Equipment to be loaned out during try-it sessions
- Transportation to try-it sessions around the country
- Other expenses required to grow the sport of Blind Ice Hockey
Every little bit helps, and we appreciate any amount you are able to donate. The Mid Hudson Civic Center is a 501 (c)3 organization. Your donation will be 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and you will be Emailed a receipt that meets IRS requirements for a record of your donation once you make your donation.
Thank you very much for your support!
Don't forget to tell all of your friends about Blind Ice Hockey and the NY Nightshade.
