I am a survivor. A two-time survivor. A stage 4 rectal cancer survivor to be most specific.
Cancer showed up on my doorstep, uninvited in 2011. I was a new mother with a full-time IT Management job in the high paced world of international finance. I was an even cyclist, a sprint triathlete and if you could draw a picture of a Type A personality, I was your girl. However, cancer did not care.
Cancer doesn't care about your job, your plans, your wedding, your new home, your children, your future. Nothing.
Cancer cannot be bought off.
Cancer cannot be persuaded to go easy on you.
When cancer shows up, it tends to drop anchor and set up shop.
