Hello Friends and family!
For those who may not know, I am lucky enough to be involved with an amazing organization in New York City that I am passionate about called the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF). HEAF is an awesome college prep and leadership program that was established in response to a need to close the opportunity gaps in public education confronting underserved minorities in Harlem, Washington Heights, and the Bronx. HEAF creates pathways to college and the professional world for nearly 600 low-income New York City minority youth each year, by providing resources that help them achieve higher education, fulfilling careers, and greater lifetime earnings.
I started my involvement in HEAF two years ago tutoring amazing, highly motivated middle schoolers on the weekends and am excited to be helping with HEAF's 11x11 initiative this year. The goal is simple: each HEAF volunteer gives $11 and gets 11 friends and family to give $11 with a goal of raising at least $11,000 across the team.
Last year the team quadrupled this and raised over $42,000 . Like last year, we're asking for only $11. It's that simple. And with your help we can take this small, grassroots campaign and grow it into something even bigger! Anything you can donate is much appreciated, but really just asking for 11 Washingtons. Thank you!!
