On Friday June 17, 2016 I have decided to take the plunge and join the Golf Fights Cancer team and attempt to play 100+ holes of golf in one day. For years I have followed the exploits of friends and colleagues who run, bike, walk, and yes golf, in support of the never ending battle against cancer. Thanks to the encouragement of John Dias, I am finally getting off the sidelines and jumping inside the ropes to play 100 holes of golf at Juniper Hills GC. Should be an interesting, but certainly exciting and special day.
What is Golf Fights Cancer? Golf Fights Cancer (GFC) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer organization, that taps into the passion and generosity of all golfers to raise much needed funds for cancer related organizations and families living with the disease. Specifically, GFC makes targeted donations for equipment, services, and/or amenities that make an immediate positive impact on treatment and the experience for both the patient and family. Golf Fights Cancer was founded because we had a personal connection to cancer. Just like you do.
Proceeds from this year's event will be directed to The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, providing financial assistance to cancer patients and their families, helping them focus on recovery – not bills. For more information on this amazing Foundation, please go to http://joeandruzzifoundation.org/
I will also be participating in this event in honor of my father, an avid golfer himself, who passed away in 1982 at the young age of 62. I am sure he will be with me that day as I make my way through the hills of Northborough, MA.
I have set a lofty goal of raising $3,000 for this awesome cause. Please help me achieve this goal with a donation of any size. I am excited about this opportunity, and thank you in advance for your encouragment and assistance as we continue the battle against this terrible disease.
