This Marathon is going to require a Sprint to get started.....
Hard to imagine that a year has gone by since the 2015 Golf Fights Cancer Marathon. That event was AMAZING and the support that I received from literally all over the country and world was phenomonal. We beat all of my early fundraising goals and came so close to the big $10,000 mark. And what a day it was-- truly a test of my endurance and will -- which are tested daily by all of our loved ones who are faced with a cancer diagnosis.
So despite a recent golf injury, I feel that I need to take this beast on once again. I need to do something to help all of my friends and others who have been knocked for a loop with news of cancer and all that it entails. So we are just a few days away from playing 100 holes of golf. So yes, I am sprinting to this marathon-- and I ask that you sprint along with me and help support my effort with a pledge.
This year we are supporting the Joe Andruzzi Foundation which is dedicated to providing patients with financial assistance so they can primarily focus on recovering and not on their bills. The foundation also supports research efforts in the fight for a cure/treatment. Our goal with this marathon is to raise $250,000.00 to help the foundation.
On June 17th at Juniper Hill-- I'll be asking my body and my golf game to do more than I typically ask of it. And all the while I will be thinking of and tweeting to my buddies who I'm hoping to help. Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Melanoma, Lymphoma, Pancreatic Cancer - it goes on and on-- and all of these have affected someone in my life. Great strides are being made in treatment-- but we need more. Can you help me out? I know many of you have been touched by these too.
Thank you for your support. And I'm going to do my best to keep it in the fairway and get these 100 holes played in record time.
