I have been a Board Member of Chicago’s Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network (CMBWN) for over a year. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as part of a joint fundraising campaign, my goal is to raise $2500 for CMBWN by the end of this month.
The mission and vision:
This non-profit organization is working diligently to achieve its vision of eradicating domestic violence and its underlying causes in oppression throughout Illinois. There is minimal overhead within this organization, so every dollar you donate goes a long way to help someone in need.
Why is this important?
Imagine if you and your kids were unsafe in your own home. If you try to end the relationship, your abuser threatens you and/or your kids. Even if you tried to escape, your abuser eventually finds you at your work, school, local stores, or with your family/friends. Taking legal action takes a long time, has uncertainties, and can be very expensive. This is a very difficult and complex situation, but resources are confidentially available to anyone who calls 877-863-6338 (877-TO END DV), a hotline managed and staffed by CMBWN 24/7.
How can you help?
There are many great charitiable organizations, but please consider supporting CMBWN by clicking on the donate link below. Any amount will help. If you would like to learn more, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you, and thanks in advance for your support.
