BENEFITING: Alliance College-Ready Public Schools
A promising Alliance student who will be the first in their families to go to college, become the next neurosurgeon, entrepreneur or civic leader. Now through December 31, 2017, help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 towards the Leaders of Change Scholarship Fund. Your donation directly supports college scholarships that helps pay for housing, books, tuition, and other resources so that students who go above and beyond can continue to succeed and return to better their communities.
The Alliance Young Professionals Network (YPN) raises college funds for the Alliance Gayle Miller Leaders of Change Scholarships which are awarded to high-achieving high school seniors who might otherwise not have the means to go to college next year.
Meet 2017 Scholarship Recipient Omar| True to the Alliance mission, Omar was an exceptional student throughout his high school tenure. When he was only a freshman, he was responsible for founding the "Military Alliance Cadet Corps," which has trained over 400 students from various Alliance schools. A son of two immigrants, Omar understood the expectation of achieving a higher education and the importance of using that knowledge to positively advance the world around him. Omar is now thriving in his freshman year at California State University, Long Beach. He has chosen to double major in Political Science and Sociology with the hopes of pursuing a career as an Alliance teacher and principal, as well as running for public office to positively impact the Department of Education. In 2017, YPN awarded Omar with a $25,000 scholarship to help make Omar's dreams a reality. With these funds, he has the resources to purchase text books, school supplies and study abroad.
