This is Year FIVE of the annual RSVP Bike Ride for Dwankhozi Hope! Wow! We have an awesome, ambitious group of riders this year covering all 188 miles from Seattle to Vancouver, BC on their bikes - all to raise support for Dwankhozi Hope, and the empowering, life-changing work happening across the Atlantic in Zambia.
This year, our riders are raising support for schools in the surrounding area in the Dwankhozi region. With the construction of a brand new Secondary School (high school) at Dwankhozi recently complete, we have seen the need to help raise up the quality of schools that feed into Dwankhozi. Specifically, Lukusuzi and Dwansenga are two nearby schools who send large handfuls of kids to Dwankhozi for grades 9-12. Moses Masala, Dwankhozi Hope Program Manager in Zambia, shared these updates:
“Lukusuzi School had a challenge as kids were learning in a mud grass thatched structure. So last year, we started to help them to start constructing a classroom block. Due to other challenges, their building is still at foundation level but with a new Head Teacher, things are now moving."
"The Dwansenga students were learning in a mud grass thatched structure which was not conducive for learning. Since 2016, we have been helping the school with the construction of a classroom block. They will need extra funds to complete the building. And it would nice to include desks for the new classes so that the kids will not be sitting on the floor!”
Our incredible riders this year are moving these projects forward and helping raise the level of education available to all kids in the Dwankhozi community and surrounding areas. This year’s RSVP will have a large, lasting impact for these students! Thank you for your support!!
